Metal Gear has been one of the most beloved franchises by gamers from all around the world, ever since the first game was launched for MXS2 and the NES. It is one of those rare videogame franchises that never fail to earn new fans with each installment. Games like Metal Gear Solid for the PS, MGS 3: Snake Eater and MGS4: Guns of the Patriots have been universally acclaimed by critics and fans alike. The latest big announcement from Kojima Productions is the now official sequel to MGS 4.
Metal Gear Solid V, the ninth major title in the series, was recently unveiled to the great surprise of millions of fans. The sequel to MGS 4 was announced as two separate games: Ground Zeroes (prologue) and Phantom Pain. A trailer is now available that has been at the center of lots of speculation and theories. The trailer hints at a game that guarantees to be a feast for the senses. Experiencing such a game in a nice setup, such as a quality projector with surround sound will be a guaranteed tour-de-force. Play would be very realistic if we use a projector instead of a TV screen, a domestic projector that can be viewed on this website.
Many fans of the series will be glad to know that the two upcoming games will be purely Hideo Kojima, which is almost a quality guarantee. The latest game from the franchise, Metal Gear Rising had its share of detractors. Many of the game’s harshest critics mention that it’s simply not a pure sneaking/stealth based game as other games from the series. Some zealot fans don’t even consider the game as canon. The great news about the upcoming MGS 5 is that it will be a great way to immerse newcomers to the series; it will also try to lure back MGS purists and enthusiasts back into the franchise.
There is virtually no limit with what Kojima is planning to do for Metal Gear Solid V’s story; there is lots of speculation about breaking the fourth wall and cinematic that won’t be as long as those in MGS 4. Let’s wait and see if MGS 5 will honor its distinctive pedigree and become another excellent entry from this legendary series.
