The world is fast becoming ever more reliant on social media. Whether it is for finding products, services, or friends, a social network of some description is likely to be the place most people go to satisfy their needs.

Jobs have long been advertised on social media, and there are various statistics that talk about how many employers check social networks to find out whether they’re hiring someone reliable, or a person who is likely to call in sick with a hangover every time they’re scheduled to work at the weekend.

Enthuse.me is a new social site that tips the balance towards the job-seeker. In fact, to use enthuse.me, you don’t even need to be a job-seeker. It is simply a platform for anyone who wants to demonstrate their professional expertise, whether they do happen to be job-seekers, are an independent contractor, or are simply looking to network with others in their industry or around the business world.

Isn’t That What LinkedIn Does?

When you look at what enthuse.me does, it is tempting to say that it is a very similar site to LinkedIn. The truth is, however, that the similarities between LinkedIn and enthuse.me stop there.

The Purpose of enthuse.me

Rather than merely being a place for you to build connections and talk about your business, enthuse.me gives you the opportunity to give browsers a snapshot of what you do.

There are two main parts to the enthuse.me profile.

The first section is the enthuse.me modules. This is where you have the opportunity to link to work that you’re currently doing, or that you’re most proud of, as well as being able to connect with your ‘Top 5’ recommendations that also have enthuse.me, or invite them to join the site and create a profile if they haven’t.

The handy ‘insights’ section is great for communicating your thoughts about your industry to establish yourself as a thought leader, too.

The second part of enthuse.me is where you share your expertise and presence from around the internet. You can link to eight different social profiles, including Twitter, LinkedIn, and Klout, so that anyone landing on your profile page can see what level of influence you have across these sites, and how you interact with your audience.

Who is it Good For?

Enthuse.me could be a useful social site for anybody, not just the demographics mentioned above, although that is their target audience. One great aspect of enthuse.me is that if you are looking for a job, you can simply direct people there to use it as the hub of your presence on the internet.

If employers to go online to search for you, an enthuse.me profile will show them the things that are relevant to the job, and keep them away from Facebook or other social networks that you might use for keeping your personal life up to date.

Will it Become Popular?

While the idea behind enthuse.me is similar to about.me and other sites, enthuse.me appears cleaner, more intuitive, and more to the point than its competitors, and appears to have a clear set of objectives that it delivers through its profiles.

It’s still early days, but expect enthuse.me to emerge as one of the big social players, particularly for professionals, in the coming months and years.
