The world saw the launch of Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch, but Qualcomm jumped into the Smartwatch market with the introduction of ‘Toq’. Qualcomm Toq is a touchscreen device which syncs with users’ smartphone and quickly scans their texts, calls and other alerts. Toq runs on Qualcomm OS and can work only with Android devices via WiFi and Bluetooth. However Qualcomm is considering the extension of connectivity to iOS as well. Company has used low-powered mirasol display which offers an excellent outdoor readability.
Qualcomm Toq conveniently charges wirelessly by simply placing the smartwatch on the case. And the optional headsets use the same wireless charger, eliminating the need for multiple chargers and wires.
Toq will be available in mid’-October, online and in some retail stores, and the expected price is to be $300. The company will sell only a limited number of smartwatches.
