Nissan Joins Wearable Market, Introduces Nismo Smartwatch

Smartwatch are the hot topic for tech industries. Samsung already introducing Galaxy Gear Watch, while Qualcomm a chip maker company unveil Toq and also expecting that apple is introducing their own smartwatch now Nissan a car maker company, join the wearable market and unveiled Nismo Watch at Frankfurt Motor Show. This is first time when an automaker company create smartwatch.

The NISMO Watch will connect the driver to their cars and provide real-time biometric data. The Watch will monitor the efficiency of the vehicle with average speed and fuel consumption readings, provide telematics and performance data while on track and monitor driver’s biometric data via a heart rate monitor. The device using a smartphone app to connect the car via Bluetooth and receive tailored car message from Nissan.

On track, Nissan uses the latest biometric training technologies to improve the performance of our Nissan NISMO Athletes, and it is this technology we want to bring to our fans to enhance their driving experience and NISMO ownership,” says Gareth Dunsmore, Marketing Communications General Manager, Nissan in Europe.

Nissan launched the NISMO Lab, earlier this year and NISMO Watch is a part of this lab. NISMO Lab is mobile laboratory that track the real time biometric and telematics data from the race cars and Nissan NISMO Athletes during races. In future NISMO Lab will be focusing on ECG to measure the intervals of the R-R rhythm of the hearth, EEG Brainwave to monitor the drivers’ levels of concentration and emotions and Skin Temperature to record core body temperature and hydration levels.

There is no word about the production of the watch but the device is available in three colors black, white and the flagship back and red.

NISMO Watch uses lithium battery and charged via micro-USB. Nissan claim the battery life will last over seven days under normal usage conditions.

The will also track and rate the user’s social performance across Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram using its Social Speed software.
