Lava has launched its third Intel powered smartphone in India – the Xolo X1000 for Rs 19,999. It is based on the first generation Intel Atom Z2480 processor codenamed Medfield that Intel released last year. Unlike the Xolo X900, this chipset is clocked at 2GHz with hyper-threading and was previously seen in the UK bound Motorola Razr i.
The Lava Xolo X1000 runs on a single-core 2GHz Intel Atom Z2480 processor (based on the Medfield design) with Hyper-Threading (implying two threads), and a PowerVR SGX540 (400MHz) GPU, coupled with 1GB of RAM. It also boasts of a Sharp-made 4.7-inch 1280×720 pixel ‘2.5 D’ edge-to-edge curved glass TFT LCD display (with a single glass – similar to the Galaxy Nexus). The display has a reported pixel density of 312 ppi, according to the press release, though the specifications sheet states 314 ppi pixel density.
The handset runs on Android 4.0 ICS, which is a downside as the budget smartphones these days are coming up with Jelly Bean platform. However, it would be great if Lava decides to rollout the Jelly Bean upgrade to Xolo X1000.
Xolo X1000 has a 8MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front camera with BSI sensor for better low light photography. The main camera can capture burst shots up to 15 frames per second.
The handset will come with 8GB internal storage, 1GB RAM and a micro SD card slot for expandable memory support and packed with connectivity features including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS with A-GPS and micro USB 2.0.
Xolo X1000 is powered by a 1,900 mAh battery of undisclosed backup.
Lava has priced Xolo X1000 at Rs 19,999 and has claimed that the handset will be made available from March 20, 2013. Further, online retailer site Flipkart has already listed Xolo X1000 for pre-order at Rs 19,999 on its website.
